Dr. Andrés Poveda (Medicañl Oncology)

His clinical and research activity is focused especially on gynecological tumors and sarcomas. His areas of specialization are ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical cancer (cervix) and other gynecological tumors, as well as soft tissue sarcomas and GIST.

Dr. Andrés Poveda is actively involved in clinical trials with special participation in tumor areas of gynecology and sarcomas. He works regularly with several national and international cooperative research groups (groups Geico, Geis, STSB-EORTC, GCIG ...) being a principal investigator of several research protocols.

He is a founding member and until 2013 President of the Spanish Ovarian Cancer Research Group (GEICO). He is also a founding member of the Spanish Research Group in Sarcomas (GEIS); belongs to the Executive Committee of both groups. He is a member of the steering committee of the GCIG (Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup) of which he has been Executive President from November 2016 to November 2018. He has actively participated in the worldwide consensus on Ovarian Cancer of 2004, 2010 and 2015, being co-author of his publications .

Professor of medical oncology in various courses for postgraduates, medical consultant in different scientific events. He has developed and established the 'International Symposium on Advanced Ovarian Cancer: Optimal Therapy', a forum that brings together the world's leading experts in this specialty, and which has been held in Valencia every two years since October 1996, and has been co-chairman since then. His works are published in full in the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer and Annals of Oncology,

He is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals and author of more than 80 publications, especially in the areas of gynecological tumors and sarcomas.

He is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO). He is a member (he was its president between 2010 and 2014) of the group of gynecological cancer teachers of this society (ESMO). At the 2014 ESMO symposium he was chairman of the gynecological cancer scientific committee.
