sala dilatacion 2fbsala dilatacion 2fbThe Quirónsalud Marbella hospital has now opened a new specialised Maternity and Children’s unit that guarantees the humanisation of childbirth and neonatal care. The new Gynaecology and Obstetrics area specialises in natural or humanised delivery and has started operating this week in our Marbella centre. It has been provided with two dilation-labour wards that are equipped with the latest technologies. "Our main priority is to guarantee that the mother-to-be and the baby are adequately cared for in the two areas allocated to dilation and labour. Both are equipped with all the necessary technology to help women in the dilation and delivery stages and in the first hours with their babies. During this time, we promote skin contact between mother and child and everything takes place in the one room" as Doctor José Amores Tirado, the Co-Director of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department, explains.

The Quirónsalud Marbella hospital has reserved the most exclusive areas of its building to accommodate labour units that are unique in concept. The two areas are very large and enjoy impressive panoramic sea views. They are also equipped to provide aromatherapy, thermotherapy, colour therapy and music therapy treatment. Additionally, they include a birthing chair, a birth support rope and a birth pool situated next to an articulated bed that can be adjusted in order to best accommodate the mother for the last stage of labour. "Hot water immersion during the last stage of labour helps the mother dilate, relieves pain and contributes to relaxation. This procedure is as safe as any others prior to childbirth" states Bernardo Ruiz García, Head of the Midwifery Unit.

"In this room, the new parents can remain with their baby in the safe knowledge that they are in a highly professional medical environment" states Adelaida Sánchez Bacallao, the Head of the Paediatrics Service.

The new Maternity and Children’s Unit and Neonatal Unit have been very well accepted by pregnant women who are being monitored at Quirónsalud Marbella hospital throughout their pregnancy.
