Clinical Cardiology

The clinical cardiology unit is the center of our specialization unit and has experienced cardiologists who are the reference point and coordinate the conduct of tests and interconsultations with other professionals. They will treat you as many if you go to the hospital as if they were hospitalized, they will explain your problem and indicate their treatment or organize the performance of other specialists if necessary, thus guaranteeing what the patient needs: a high quality of care.

Among the most frequent tests that our specialists use to diagnose cardiovascular problems are:

- Color Doppler echocardiography

- Pharmacological stress echocardiography

Non-invasive imaging diagnostic unit

In recent years, alternatives to traditional imaging have been sought with new high-resolution imaging techniques such as gammagraphy and cardiac SPECT.

Hemodynamics

This unit allows the performance of coronary studies for the early diagnosis and treatment of revascularization in patients with angina pectoris or acute myocardial infarction. This service is available for urgent treatments on a permanent basis. Among the most common diagnostic and treatment techniques we perform are:

- Diagnostic coronary angiograms

- Hemodynamic studies

- Coronary angioplasty and stent implantation

- Transcatheter aortic valve implantation, TAVI

Arrhythmia unit

Sometimes the heart loses its ability to regulate the rhythm of its heartbeat. This type of alterations is very frequent and has led to the birth of professional teams that study them, identify their cause and cure or propose their treatment if this is not possible. The following procedures are performed in the arrhythmia unit:

- Electrophysiological studies

- Pacemaker implant

- Implantation of automatic defibrillators (DAI)

- Ablación por radiofrecuencia

Heart surgery

The cardiac surgery team of Quirónsalud Torrevieja is composed of a multidisciplinary team of cardiac surgeons, perfusionists, anesthetists, instrumentalists and auxiliary personnel.

The medical team has a success rate higher than 97%. The mortality data are less than 3% for the overall of the nearly 2500 surgeries performed to date (for an expected mortality according to Euroscore I of 9.7% and according to Euroscore II of 5.6%).

Within our portfolio of services, we must highlight coronary surgery without extracorporeal circulation / coronary surgery without a pump with arterial grafts (double mammary), since it has contributed to placing coronary surgery within our service in 37% of the total activity, when the average in Spain is around 30%. We also make a special reference to aortic valve surgery in high-risk patients.

We also emphasize the coronary heart beating surgery (this means that the heart is not stopped and, therefore, we do not use the heart lung machine). This intervention is performed by very few medical teams in Spain and allows an early recovery of the patient with a lower rate of complications (cerebral, renal, transfusion, etc.).

This team collaborates and intervenes in close collaboration with cardiologists and intensivists in order to obtain the best guarantees during the surgical process, and also during the postoperative period.
