Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital now offers a new serology test within its portfolio of services which detects the antibodies that your system generates following vaccination against Covid-19, so that you can verify the degree of effectiveness of the vaccine in your body and your level of immunity against the SARS-Cov-2 virus.

Doctor Irene Pando, the Head of the Clinical Analysis Department at Quirónsalud Marbella, has highlighted the high degree of reliability offered by this new test and recommends that the samples are taken a few weeks from full vaccination. "The results of this test are fully reliable as its analytical specificity is 100% and its sensitivity is 98.8%. We like to recommend anyone taking this test to do so 28 to 30 days from having the last dose of the vaccine in order to obtain the most reliable results", stated Irene Pando.

As an expert in the field, she recommends the test for people who have been infected with coronavirus and would like to know the level of antibodies their system has naturally generated after the infectious process, as well as for people who have not been infected, but would like to know their level of immunity against coronavirus following vaccination. The sample is taken by conventional blood extraction and the results are ready in approximately 24 hours. "We take a small blood sample in order to determine the existence of the protein that is responsible for the immune response in the individual’s system", explains Doctor Pando.

The post-vaccination antibody test has been added to the existing Covid-19 detection tests available at the laboratories of both hospitals in order to meet population demand. The existing tests are: PCR test (nasopharynx swab and saliva extraction) which detects the disease; antigen test, which detects the disease when symptoms are present; and total antibody detection test.
