An endocrinological medical assessment is essential to designing your treatment plan

- Malnutrition (cancer, elderly, surgery, etc.).
- Metabolic disorders.
WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
Medical assessment from our Endocrinology and Nutrition specialist is essential to understanding the determining factors in overweight and therefore allows us to plan the most appropriate therapeutic approach for each and every patient. In some cases we will need to order tests to rule out medical disorders that can cause weight gain, that make it more difficult to lose weight during treatment, or that have appeared or been exacerbated as a result of weight gain.
Personalized plans
Not all patients are alike. For that reason, our multidisciplinary team designs a program that is adapted to the needs of each patient. After the initial assessment by the medical team, the program needs will be further defined*:
- Endocrinology consultation.
- Nutrition consultation.
- Psychology consultation.
- Exercise and Fitness Education consultation.
* The need for a comprehensive or partial program will be defined, including intervention from all specialists or only a number of them, as well as the duration of the program according to the baseline situation of each patient and the established weight loss goals.
Patients who are candidates for obesity surgery will undergo a preoperative evaluation to optimize their health condition and achieve any weight loss recommended prior to the intervention.

FAQs
HOW MUCH WEIGHT DO I NEED TO LOSE?
"How much" is not as important as "how." We seek to achieve at least 5% weight loss in 3 months or 10% in 6 months, ensuring that the patient doesn't go hungry and can maintain the implemented measures in the long-term, even once the program ends.
ARE THERE DRUGS THAT HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS?
In Spain we currently have 3 different drugs that can help patients lose weight. Their mechanism of action focuses on suppressing appetite or anxiety around food, or limiting the absorption of fat from the foods we eat. They require prior patient evaluation and medical prescription. There are many products available for sale that claim to have beneficial weight loss properties but lack any supporting scientific evidence. For that reason, we always recommend seeking out advice from your doctor.
