After completing specialized training in General and Gastrointestinal Surgery, he developed his professional career at Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío and Quirón Sagrado Corazón Hospital. From the very start of his career, he has been particularly dedicated to minimally invasive surgery as can be seen in his multiple publications on the topic in the most prestigious journals in this field, his book chapters, and talks and presentations at conferences both nationally and internationally.

His primary professional and scientific focus is bariatric surgery and he is a member of the Hospital Universitario Virgen del Rocío Bariatric Surgery Unit. Scientifically, in recent years he has collaborated on multiple articles published in leading international journals specializing in bariatric surgery (Obesity Surgery and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases). He has also sat on various expert committees for the creation of multiple guidelines for bariatric surgery management.
