Institute

Since its inception, all the Institute’s activities have been oriented toward the study of Biology and Reproductive Medicine, equipping its labs with the latest scientific and technical advances of the day. Accordingly, the first Sperm Bank of the Autonomous Region of Aragon was created at Quirónsalud Zaragoza in 1992. In 1995, we were the first to perform the Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), in 1997 we obtained the first pregnancy using sperm from a Testicular Biopsy of a azoospermic male and in 2005 the first pregnancy in Aragon using a genetically selected embryo was obtained after Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD). Later in 2009, Quirónsalud Zaragoza Assisted Reproduction was the first accredited facility of our region for the cryopreservation of eggs using the vitrification technique. Finally, in 2014, it was the first facility to introduce the EEVA System (Early Embryo Viability Assessment) in its laboratories which is the only system recognised by the US FDA for embryo viability analysis.
