He has been director of the Department of Oncology and added professor of Oncology at the University of Navarra between 1980 and 2000, developing a multidisciplinary, assistance and teaching program where more than 30 specialists have been trained. He has directed more than 20 doctoral theses and is the author or co-author of more than 100 publications or chapters in specialty books.

Since September 2000, he has developed the Oncology Platform of the Hospital Quirónsalud Torrevieja, an innovative project that brings together numerous and qualified professionals from different specialties, with the aim of offering all the oncological assistance with the highest level of results and quality.


-He studied Medicine at the University of Barcelona obtaining the qualification of Outstanding in the Degree in 1967.

-Internal by opposition at Hospital Clinic, 1967, he obtained the ECMFG certification in 1968 and was awarded by the ACS, Western New York, in 1972.

-Doctor of Medicine from the University of Navarra, with an Extraordinary Award in 1984. Civil Merit Officer's Cross, 1994.


-Member of European and American societies in cancer research (AACR, ASCO, EORTC).

-He specialized in oncology in the US (1969-1973), the first year as an intern in pathology at Metropolitan Hospital and New York Medical College, New York, and the following three as residentfellow at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, New York.

-He was head of the Medical Oncology service of the General Hospital of Asturias between 1973 and 1980, creating the first service of this specialty in Spain, and actively collaborating with various groups of the European Organization for Cancer Research. (EORTC).
