Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital, the recipient of one of the prestigious BSH awards to healthcare excellence

premio-bshThe Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology Units of Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital received one of the prestigious BSH (Best Spanish Hospitals) Awards at the ceremony held last Thursday in Barcelona.

This fifth edition included 140 public and private hospitals from 12 autonomic regions from all over Spain. The awards jury makes a close assessment of the main indicators in each of the healthcare areas grouped up around the medical, surgical and maternity-child units. Additionally, another two optional areas are taken into account: A&E and hospital costs.

For Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital, the jury recognised and highlighted the healthcare project of the Maternity & Child Unit. It analysed the processes within the birth area and other areas relating to pregnancy and postpartum, neonatology and specific processes for patients aged 2 to 14 (diseases of the respiratory, digestive, nervous systems, genital and urinary diseases, endocrine diseases…)

The Managing Director at Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital, Doctor Lola Alguacil Herrero, highlighted the work and commitment of the Paediatrics and the Obstetrics and Gynaecology units, which are the two specialities included in the Maternity and Child Unit. "When multidisciplinary coordinated teamwork yields a level of professional commitment that obtains a recognition, then we know that we are on the right path. Our patients are the fundamental purpose of our work and a distinction like this encourages us to progressing towards clinical excellence and to providing positive experiences to our patients. Congratulations to all our professionals, the true assets and talent of this project", stated the manager of the Marbella hospital.

The Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Unit, Doctor Isabel María Blanco Herráez, stated that she is "truly proud and honoured to receive this recognition as a representative of Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital, together with my colleague and Head of the Paediatrics Unit, Doctor Adelaida Sánchez Bacallao. This award is given on the assessment of the indicators for quality of healthcare service, patient safety and patient experience at our Maternity and Child Unit as one of the best hospitals in Spain. I also want to highlight that this is a recognition to excellent teamwork of all the professionals who help our patients through their pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum stages as well as the care of the newborn and subsequent follow up of children".

This is not the first time our hospital in Marbella receives a major recognition at this ceremony. The recent diploma adds to the final award in the category of kidney and urinary tract processes awarded to the Urology and Nephrology Units of the Quirónsalud Marbella Hospital in the 2021 edition of the Awards. In the previous year, 2020, our hospital was also awarded the first national BSH prize to the Diagnosis of the Musculoskeletal System and it received two diplomas as a final winner for Female Diagnoses and the Digestive and Hepatopancreatic system. A year before, it was awarded the final recognition in the Female Diagnoses category and two special recognitions in the Respiratory System and Global Results categories.
